Join us in WHISTLER this summer!

Following the 60th anniversary celebrations in Ottawa in 2022, we are heading to the spectacular mountains of Whistler, BC!

For this years Conference we are planning for you and your family so will have plenty of activities to ensure that you all enjoy your time with the rest of the TIAC Family. You won’t want to miss this Conference!

The 2023 Conference Committee and your TIAC Board is currently working on finalizing the technical programming. Stay tuned for the speaker announcements that will be coming soon.

Program
The 2023 Conference program will feature timely presentations by industry experts and leaders, business meetings where you can engage in sector-specific discussions and networking opportunities to connect with friends new and old.

The Conference will kick-off on the Wednesday evening with the Manufacturers and Distributors Reception.

Thursday’s program will feature several invited speakers, as well as the contractor, manufacturer and distributor breakout sessions. The spousal/family program will also be running this day. For those of you planning to bring your children, please register by July 1 so that we can organize age-appropriate activities for them. This day will wrap up with a trip up the mountain to the Roundhouse Lodge.

Friday morning will include more presentations, followed by TIAC’s traditional golf tournament. Friday evening is a night off and delegates are encouraged to get out and enjoy the village!

Saturday morning, join us for more presentations, including an a sneak-peak at the 2024 Conference scheduled for August 21-24 in St. John’s, NL.

The Conference will be wrapped up at the President’s Dinner with entertainment provided by Ruckus Deluxe, Whistler’s Official Anthem Band.

Laura Dover has chosen a theme this year that reflects her philosophy. Her presentation “Better Together” will cover who her family history and that of Dover Insulation, and why she has focused her year as NIA President on bringing together members, specifically the small contractor, to achieve goals and objectives that alone would be hard if not impossible to achieve.

NIA’s EVP/CEO, Michele Jones will provide an overview of the new NIA Education Center. Having just been unveiled last December, she will review the benefits of subscribing, the number of courses currently available, the types of courses, the types of presentations, the process for new content, the number of current subscribers and will provide a demo of how the platform works.

Laura Dover, President, Dover Insulation
Laura Dover is a third-generation mechanical insulation contractor based in Western North Carolina. She began her career in writing and publishing, and then shifted gears in 2004 to take over the family business, Dover Insulation, upon the death of her father, William Dover.As President of Dover Insulation, Laura and her team have advanced the company’s mission, which was established in 1965, to do first-class work on schedule and to deliver exceptional value and customer service, regardless of the size or scope of the job. In addition to her leadership with NIA, Laura served as the first female President of the Southeastern Insulation Contractors Association. Laura is also LEED AP (BD+C) certified.Her term as NIA President began in March 2023 at the end of NIA’s 67th Annual Convention in Maui, Hawaii. During the coming year, Laura will emphasize how we as an industry and association are Better Together, a theme that delivers the core message of mechanical insulation: Work Hard, Work Smart, Work Together. Throughout the year, she will work to elevate awareness of the value of the industry and all mechanical insulation professionals. Her term concludes at NIA’s 68th Annual Convention, April 17–19, 2024, at the Naples Grande Beach Resort in Naples, Florida.Laura holds a BA in English Literature and Political Science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MA in English Literature from Villanova University. In addition to being a mechanical insulation enthusiast, Laura is a dedicated basketball fan and an avid tennis player. She lives in Asheville, North Carolina.

Michele M. Jones, Executive Vice President/CEO, National Insulation Association
Michele’s role has expanded as NIA has grown. She now works with several other synergistic non-profit groups that are involved in promoting resources and technologies for energy efficiency and carbon reduction. She also represents mechanical insulation on Capitol Hill and with Federal Agencies such as the Department of Energy where NIA is now a Better Climate Challenge Ally helping to reduce GHG emissions. In addition she also represents NIA at all regional insulation association meetings, as well as the Thermal Insulation Association of Canada, and with other NIA’s strategic partners. She was appointed to represent the insulation industry on the Commercial Workforce Credentialing Council’s (CWCC’s) Board of Advisors, a committee of the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) and is currently on the National Center for Construction Education and Research’s (NCCER’s) Commercial Workforce Council.Prior to joining NIA, Michele was Director of Program Development for the National Association of Industrial Office Parks and Director of Membership for the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce. She earned her Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) designation in 1996 and has won “Best Membership Recruitment” awards from the National Association of Membership Directors.Michele grew up in an Air Force family. She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, and has lived in four countries including Canada, Japan, England, as well as many states throughout the United States. Michele has two children and one grandchild. She and her husband reside in Northern Virginia.

Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk
Lisa Vlooswyk is an 8-Time Canadian Long Drive Champion, and has finished as high as 2nd in the World.  Lisa competed on the Golf Channel’s World Long Drive Association Tour and currently competes at the World Long Drive Championship. She is an LDA Tour Champion and Callaway Golf sponsored athlete.  Lisa was the first woman to ever hit it the length of 3 ½ NFL football fields in competition and currently holds the Canadian Women’s Long Drive record at 350 yards 2 feet 2 inches. Lisa won Golfweek Magazine’s Golf Fest Entertainer of the Year award.  In addition to her competitive career, Lisa is a Golf Journalist for several publications including Inside Golf Magazine and has had her own column in Golf Digest Canada.  Lisa uses her vast experience as a World Class athlete to be a successful keynote Peak Performance Speaker at Conferences and Conventions, is a Golf Entertainer for many Corporate/Charity Golf Tournaments across North America including PGA Tour and Champions Tour events and runs her own Golf School for Women both in Canada and the United States.

Sky Walk

HIKE UP TO AND ALONG THE EDGE OF WHISTLER MOUNTAIN OVERLOOKING AMAZING MOUNTAIN VIEWS.

This summer, take a walk on the snow and ice atop Whistler Mountain and take in the natural landscape sculpted by ancient ice! Along the way, you will travel back 10,000 years to learn about the formation of the Coast Mountains glaciers.
After the gondola ride to the top of Whistler Mountain, the guide will give you a helmet and harness to wear. The group hikes and when we arrive at the cabled portion of the tour everyone clips into the safety cable so we can all enjoy the amazing views high above Whistler. The hike gradually continues up along the cliff edge and crosses small bridges and ramps.
