Conference Overview
There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tales

Join us in the land of the midnight sun, Whitehorse, for the 58th Annual TIAC Conference from August 12-15, 2020.
Bring your swimsuit and sunscreen (the beaches, yes beaches, are gorgeous!). Bring your golf clubs (or at least your game!). Bring your appetite (restaurants, breweries, distilleries, oh my!). And definitely bring your sense of awe!
This Conference will check so many things off of the bucket list you never knew you had!
The 2020 Conference Committee and your TIAC Board is currently working on finalizing the technical programming. Stay tuned for the speaker announcements that will be coming soon.
Accommodation
The Conference will be held at the Coast High Country Inn. Guest rooms will be available for $205/night at both the Coast High Country Inn and the Best Western Gold Rush Inn.
Getting There
Air North will be offering flight discounts and have direct flights from Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria. Air Canada and WestJet also fly there.
Program
The 2020 Conference program will feature timely presentations by industry experts and leaders, business meetings where you can engage in sector-specific discussions and networking opportunities to connect with friends new and old.
The Conference will kick-off on the Wednesday evening with the Manufacturers and Distributors Reception where you will get your first taste of what Whitehorse will have to offer.
Thursday’s program will feature several invited speakers, as well as the contractor, manufacturer and distributor breakout sessions. The spousal/family program will also be running this day. For those of you planning to bring your children, please register by July 1 so that we can organize age-appropriate activities for them. This day will wrap up with a very special off-site evening lit by mid-day sunshine.
Friday morning will include more presentations, followed by TIAC’s traditional golf tournament at the Mountain View Golf Club. Friday evening is a night off and delegates are encouraged to get out and enjoy the city!
Andre and Judy Pachon visited Whitehorse in July 2019 and sampled a number of restaurants including:
- Antoinette’s restaurant is your premier place in Whitehorse for Caribbean and Canadian infused meals.
- Burnt Toast is an eclectic fun and funky little restaurant in the heart of downtown Whitehorse.
- Wayfarer Oyster House offers “northern coastal” dining with its fix of fresh oysters, and a rotating menu of snacks and mains in an inclusive, accessible setting.
- On the Klondike Korner – Located in the two oldest operating buildings in Whitehorse, Klondike Rib and Salmon B.B.Q makes it’s home in what was originally MacMillian’s Bakery in 1900! Today it’s one of the Capital City’s dining hot spots!
As we reach Saturday, the final day of the Conference, join us for the last morning of presentations, including an update from the TIAC Innovators and a sneak-peak at the 2021 Conference program scheduled for August 11-14 in St. John’s, NL.
The Conference will be wrapped up at the President’s Dinner and Dance.
