This year we’ve done things differently. Our Welcome Reception and Dinner will be held on the HMS Louis Jolliet cruise ship. Join us to admire Quebec City’s skyline by night from the St-Lawrence River.
Boarding the ship will begin at 6:00 pm and the cruise will leave the dock at 6:30 pm sharp. We recommend that you depart the hotel and make your way to the funiculaire by 5:45 pm. Shuttles will be available to take everyone back to the hotel following the dinner cruise. |

The Features and Benefits of the Mechanical Insulation Design
Guide (MIDG)
• Gordon Hart, P.E., Consulting Engineer, Artek Engineering, LLC
The Mechanical Insulation Design Guide, known as simply “MIDG”, was developed to provide insulation specifiers, manufacturers, distributors, contractors, and facility owners a single-source, web-based information resource about mechanical insulation. As part of the Whole Building Design Guide, it is readily available to anyone, free of charge, and can help in system design, as well as improve the appreciation of the importance of mechanical insulation in a facility’s overall performance. This presentation will review the MIDG, describing the contributions of each part to improving some or all of these objectives: condensation control, energy performance, financial savings, process control, personnel safety, freeze protection, noise control, and several others.
The parts addressed will include:
- Design objectives
- Materials and systems
- Installation
- Design data
- Use of calculators
- Resources

InsulGuide, A Web Based Insulation Products and Accessories Selection Tool
• Linda Wilson, Association d’isolation du Québec
• Robert Lacoste, Association d’isolation du Québec
InsulGuide is a very flexible and unique software oriented towards the mechanical insulation market. It is directed to the Mechanical Engineers and Contractors, General Contractors, Plant Engineers and other individuals involved in selecting mechanical insulation and accessory products.
The mechanical insulation industry is vast and offers an extremely large variety of products with many different characteristics and attributes. Finding the right product meeting a specific requirement for a given project or application can represent a significant challenge when deadlines have to be met. Reviewing hundreds of technical data sheets in multiple catalogues from a variety of manufacturers hoping to find the product whose characteristics will, in the end, meet the spec, is very expensive time wise and a pure waste of energy.
InsulGuide greatly simplifies this whole proces. It consolidates all this pertinent information into one extremely useful search tool. Think of is as a replacement to “sweet’s” catalogue, but with all the information condensed, digested, computerized, interactive and entirely dedicated to your market.
- Does the product meet ASTM XXXX
- What is this products ‘k’ value at 100oF?
- Is the product combustible?
- Does the product help obtain valuable LEED credits?
- Where is this product manufactured?
- What sizes are available?
- What is the service temperature?
- Is this product corrosive?
Or
- List all the products that meet ASTM XXXX
- List all products that offer between 0 and 25 surface burning and compare them?
This is a very small sampling of questions that this software can answer for you and all this faster than you can say “WOW”
